Pittwater has taken the top spot in New South Wales for solar battery installations, with over 400 more households now using batteries to store solar power — the highest uptake in the state under the NSW Government’s household battery incentive program.
Local independent MP Jacqui Scruby, who campaigned on smart energy solutions, says it’s a sign the community is committed to both reducing energy costs and protecting the environment.
“We’re proving that we’re top of the clean green energy game in Pittwater,” said Jacqui.
“This is a NSW Government scheme that is both practical and popular — it helps people save money while investing in a more sustainable future.”
“Tradies in Pittwater are also benefiting. Not only are households becoming energy independent and free from the volatility of electricity prices, but money is being spent with our local electricians and solar and battery providers, keeping money in our community.”
Launched in November 2024, the scheme offers upfront discounts on battery installations through approved suppliers. For a typical 13.5 kWh battery, the saving is more than $2,000 — and can be as much as $2,400. For households with an annual electricity bill of $1,850, this can mean savings of up to $1,500 a year.
“Our community is embracing renewables because they make sense,” Jacqui said. “People care about the environment and want to protect Pittwater for future generations — and this is a great way to do it and offset the impact of the cost of living crisis.”
