Scruby backs tougher new tobacconist laws

Northside Living: Independent Pittwater MP Jacqui Scruby has voiced in-principle support for new legislation targeting illegal vape and tobacco sales in NSW. While the Opposition’s Bill has yet to be released, Ms Scruby said she supports the intent, citing the need for stronger enforcement to protect young people and uphold community safety.

“In Pittwater, we’ve seen vape shops opening within metres of schools and playgrounds… Illegal tobacco and vapes aren’t a grey area. They’re part of an underground trade,” she said. “We’re cracking down harder on food safety than we are on illegal tobacco and vapes.”
