Media Statement on Sydney Harbour Bridge March For Humanity

In response to the Supreme Court's decision to allow the Harbour Bridge march for humanity, Jacqui Scruby, independent Member for Pittwater, has issued the following statement:

"I condemn the terror perpetrated by Hamas on 7 October in Israel and all forms of antisemitism. I also share the widespread horror across our community at the ongoing suffering in Gaza. I believe in and will always protect the right to peaceful protest and free speech as pillars of our democracy."

Ms Scruby supports the march but won't attend.

Ms Scruby also supported the following joint statement from members of NSW Parliament.

“We the undersigned members of the NSW Parliament support, and will attend* Sunday's March for Humanity across the Harbour Bridge.

We do so to signal in strong terms our disapproval of the ongoing starvation of Palestinian people and the destruction of Gaza and our commitment to the right to
protest against it.

We call upon the NSW Government to work with the organisers to facilitate a safe and orderly event, on Sunday 3 August, or on some other agreed date."

(*In support but won't attend the march.)
